Please be advised that work has commenced to extinguish all remaining hotspots of the hangar fire and the west-facing wall of the hangar has been deconstructed. No action will be taken on the hangar doors or concrete pillars at this time. A plan is being developed to stabilize the doors in place for the safety of the public.
Air monitoring and sampling locations have been setup in 33 locations around the hangar so that real-time information on the particulate matter in the air can be monitored. Due to the high winds, cities all over Orange County are experiencing unhealthy air quality. Please monitor the air quality in your city and take precautions: www.airnow.gov.
To reduce your exposure at home during the high winds:
- Keep windows and doors closed.
- Remove shoes before entering the home.
- Turn on indoor air purifiers.
- Do NOT run your air conditioning units, HVAC systems, swamp coolers, and/or whole house fans off to minimize drawing outside air inside your residence.
